Grow

Moving to the Next Level

Jesus “grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52 NIV). Once you have connected in relationship within the church, it is time for you to grow!

Making friends and growing in God’s plan for your life are essential.  We have a growth track to help you develop to your full potential and fulfill God’s magnificent plan for your life as well as make great new friends. The early church held classes and services where people learned doctrine: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42 NKJV).

  • Attend the Journey class faithfully for all ten weeks and begin friendships to last a lifetime. This beginning, elementary study of God’s Word will teach you the basics of what it means to be a believer, to be baptized, and even to share your faith. At the halfway point of this course, you and your new friends in the class will participate in a Freedom Weekend retreat together. It will be one of the greatest spiritual experiences of your entire life! The final class will be our partnership class, where you will have an opportunity to officially commit yourself to being part of our congregation, and our pastoral team will pray over you and your family for your next level of growth in the Lord!
  • Begin the Discovery classes (1, 2, and 3), our advanced Bible training for those who want more! (We recommend you complete the Journey class prior to starting the Discovery course). In Discovery 1, you’ll learn about the Word of God, faith, prayer, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and God’s design for the family. In Discovery 2, you’ll learn about having vision for your life, spiritual warfare, evangelism, and praise and worship. In Discovery 3, you’ll study the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the anointing, deliverance, and mentoring, among other topics. We hope you will join us for these powerful classes!
  • Information about both the Journey and Discovery classes is available at the Christ’s Church Life booth or by calling any of the following contacts:

Encounter Retreats

What is an Encounter?

We believe that the first step in becoming a disciple is to be “free indeed.” Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31-32 NIV).

An Encounter Retreat is a weekend short course in freedom - freedom from habits, bondages, bitterness, wrong thoughts, and past mistakes. At the Encounter, the Lord will set you free through the power of the cross.

Who will be there?

Each Encounter is led by the senior ministry of Christ’s Church with a group of trained assistants. Encounters are currently held for adults as well as 180 Student Ministries, with Kids in Action encounters planned to start soon.

Where is the Encounter Retreat held?

Most Christ’s Church Encounters are now held at Paul B. Johnson state park on the shores of Geiger Lake. Participants will be informed in advance concerning the exact location for their specific retreat.

What is the schedule for the Encounter?

Encounters generally run from a Friday evening until noon the following Sunday. Participants arrive at the designated retreat location by 6:00 p.m. Friday for registration, room assignments (if applicable), and the opening session and activities. Sessions continue throughout Saturday until around 6:00 p.m.  Participants return home Saturday night and the final sessions are held Sunday morning at Christ’s Church beginning at 9:15 and end with the Sunday message.

Do you ever have Couples Encounters?

Yes! Each Couples Encounter follows the same schedule as our other Encounters though the teaching is different.  Couples Encounters will be announced as they are scheduled.

Participants are advised in advance as to the exact itinerary of their retreat.

How do I get ready to go?

You can call our office at 601-649-8040, or go by the Guest Information booth in the lobby at Christ’s Church.
